Jaecoo Fuse Box Locations for Every Model

Where to find both fuse boxes on every Jaecoo, how to disconnect the 12 V battery first, and how to check and replace a fuse safely.

Updated 2026-10-09 · Sourced from official Jaecoo UK documents

Quick answer: every Jaecoo has two fuse boxes: one under the bonnet (front compartment) and one behind a lower trim panel on the dashboard. Each fuse's rating and job is printed on the diagram inside the fuse box cover. On the J7 SHS-P and Jaecoo 8, the 12 V battery you disconnect first is in the boot.

These locations and steps come from the “Fuse” section of each UK owner's manual. The manuals describe the dashboard box by the trim panel that covers it (“lower left protector” or “lower right protector”).

Switch off and disconnect the 12 V battery first

Every manual starts the same way: switch the car off, then disconnect the negative (−) cable from the 12 V battery before opening a fuse box.

  • On the J7 SHS-P, J8 and E5, switch off using the power button in the touchscreen's control centre or quick menu.
  • On the J7 SHS-P and J8, the 12 V battery is in the boot, not under the bonnet.
  • On the E5, it's under the front compartment cover.

Hybrids and the E5 also have a high-voltage battery. Never touch orange high-voltage cables or components. Fuse checks only involve the 12 V system and the two fuse boxes.

How to check and replace a fuse

  1. Switch the car off and disconnect the 12 V negative cable (above).
  2. Remove the fuse box cover, or ease off the dashboard trim panel. The manuals warn to be careful with the trim panel and to ask a dealer if unsure.
  3. Find the suspect fuse using the diagram inside the cover.
  4. Pull it out with the fuse remover. A blown fuse has a broken wire inside.
  5. If you're not sure whether it's blown, fit a spare of exactly the same amperage.
  6. Refit the cover, reconnect the battery and test.

Never fit a higher-rated fuse, and never bridge a fuse with wire, even temporarily. The manuals warn this can seriously damage the electrics or start a fire. If a new fuse blows again, have the circuit checked by a dealer.

The manuals also recommend carrying a set of spare fuses covering every rating shown on the fuse box cover, and keeping the boxes clean and dry when open.

Where to find the fuse diagram

The UK manuals don't print a full fuse list. They point you to the schematic diagram inside each fuse box cover, which shows each fuse's position and amperage rating.

Diagrams found online are often for the Chinese-market Chery Tansuo 06 (the car the Jaecoo 7 is based on), and the UK car's layout can differ. Trust the label in your own car first.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the fuse box on a Jaecoo 7?

The Jaecoo 7 has two fuse boxes: one under the bonnet and one behind a lower dashboard trim panel. On the 1.6T petrol and SHS-H hybrid the manual says the lower right panel; on the SHS-P plug-in hybrid, the lower left panel.

Where is the 12V battery on the Jaecoo 7 SHS-P and Jaecoo 8?

In the boot. On the J7 SHS-P, fold back the luggage carpet and lift out the storage box. On the Jaecoo 8, lift the flip cover on the right-hand luggage compartment trim.

Where can I find the Jaecoo fuse diagram?

It is printed inside each fuse box cover, with each fuse's position and amperage rating. The UK owner's manuals refer you to that diagram rather than printing a full list.

Can I use a higher amp fuse in my Jaecoo?

No. Only fit a fuse with the same amperage rating, and never replace a fuse with wire. The manuals warn this can damage the electrics or cause a fire.

Do I need to disconnect the battery to change a fuse on a Jaecoo?

Yes. The manuals say to switch the car off and disconnect the negative cable on the 12 V battery before opening either fuse box.
