Quick answer: as of 9 October 2026 the DVSA lists two UK recalls for Jaecoo cars, both on the Jaecoo 7: R/2026/069 (engine ECU wiring clip, 7,317 petrol cars) and R/2026/299 (driver's seat wiring, 174 petrol and plug-in hybrid cars). There are no UK recalls listed for the Jaecoo 5, E5 or Jaecoo 8.
| Recall | Launched | Models & build dates | Cars | Problem |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| R/2026/069 | 2 Mar 2026 | Jaecoo 7 1.6T petrol, built 1 Apr – 8 Dec 2025 | 7,317 | Engine ECU wiring harness clip not fully engaged: engine warning light and possible stalling |
| R/2026/299 | 5 Aug 2026 | Jaecoo 7 petrol and SHS-P plug-in hybrid, built Sep 2025 – Jan 2026 (specific batches) | 174 | Driver's seat wiring harness routed incorrectly: seat, warning light, gear-change and stalling faults |
How to check if your Jaecoo is affected
- Go to the gov.uk vehicle recall checker.
- Enter your registration number (you can also search by make and model).
- If a recall is open on your car, book it in with any OMODA | JAECOO dealer and quote the recall reference.
Affected owners are normally contacted by OMODA & JAECOO UK, but letters go to the registered keeper, so if you bought your car used or recently moved house, check yourself. A build date inside a recall's range doesn't guarantee your car is included; the checker and your dealer can confirm by VIN.
Recall work is free. For R/2026/069 the DVSA notice states free inspection and repair for every affected car.
R/2026/069: Jaecoo 7 engine ECU wiring harness clip
- Affected: Jaecoo 7 1.6T petrol (ICE), built 1 April – 8 December 2025. 7,317 cars.
- Problem: the clip on the engine control unit (ECU) wiring harness may not have been fully engaged at the factory. This can turn on the engine warning light and cause the engine to stall while driving, which increases the risk of a crash.
- Fix: the dealer checks the harness fastener is fitted correctly and replaces any worn harness.
R/2026/299: Jaecoo 7 driver's seat wiring harness
- Affected: specific batches of the Jaecoo 7 petrol (built 7 Sep – 7 Oct, 12 Nov – 12 Dec 2025) and Jaecoo 7 SHS-P plug-in hybrid (built 5 Sep 2025 – 8 Jan 2026). 174 cars.
- Problem: the driver's seat wiring harness may not have been routed correctly and can wear over time. That can stop the seat adjusting, turn on warning lights, prevent gear changes and, rarely, stall the engine while driving.
- Fix: the dealer inspects the harness, reroutes it if needed and repairs any damaged insulation.
Omoda recalls are listed under the same company
On gov.uk, Jaecoo recalls appear under the manufacturer name “OMODA and JAECOO UK LIMITED”, which also covers Omoda cars. So you may see recalls there that don't apply to a Jaecoo.
The main example is R/2026/013 (February 2026), a driveshaft hub nut inspection for the Omoda 5 and Omoda E5. Despite the similar name, the Omoda E5 is a different car from the Jaecoo E5, and the DVSA doesn't list the Jaecoo E5 in that recall.
If your Jaecoo is showing these symptoms
- Engine warning light with loss of power or stalling: stop when it's safe, then contact a dealer or roadside assistance. Jaecoo UK cars come with RAC cover; see the RAC terms on our docs page.
- Driver's seat won't adjust, or warning lights with gear-change problems: check R/2026/299 against your registration and book a dealer inspection.
- Tell the dealer which recall you think applies; they can confirm by VIN.
