Jaecoo Forums (jaecooforums.com) is an independent owners' community for the Jaecoo J5, J7 and J8. We are not affiliated with JAECOO or OMODA&JAECOO UK. This policy explains how we handle personal data under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Who we are
Jaecoo Forums is the data controller for this website. You can contact us at info@jaecooforums.com or through our contact form.
What we collect
- Account details: username, email address, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), and any profile information you choose to add.
- Content you post: discussions, replies, signatures, and private messages. Posts are public unless sent as a private discussion.
- Messages to us: name, email and message sent through our contact or advertising forms, plus your IP address for spam prevention.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device, pages visited and referring site, collected by our server logs and analytics.
How we use it
- To run the forum, your account and your notifications (legal basis: contract / our legitimate interest in operating the community).
- To send email notifications and an optional weekly digest of forum activity. You can turn these off in your forum settings or use the unsubscribe link in any digest.
- To reply to your enquiries (legitimate interest).
- To prevent spam and abuse, including reCAPTCHA on sign-up (legitimate interest).
- To understand how the site is used and to show advertising (consent, where required).

Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Who we share data with
We use service providers to run the site: hosting, email delivery, Google (analytics, advertising, reCAPTCHA, translation) and YouTube for embedded videos. They process data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies. Some of these providers are outside the UK; where so, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards. We may disclose data if required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep account data and posts while your account exists. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Server logs are kept for a short period. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data, though posts that others have replied to may remain in anonymised form.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email info@jaecooforums.com and we'll respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
The forum is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
