mhh2001eg My reasoning is to get away from expensive fuel, that will never get cheaper, but having a hybrid Petrol electric gives me the flexibility of able to go anywhere, but using petrol as well, so i will not suffer with range anxiety, that a pure EV car could incur
Pretty well 90% of my mileage is around town, local, etc and daily never more than 30 ish miles, holidays etc, will be much longer, so Petrol will be used as well
The plug in J7 that i have currently costs to charge using a Granny charger (13amp plug in the wall type) i am fortunate to have economy 7 at home, so between 0030-0700 the rate is currently 09.83p a KW so a full charge costs £1.80 and give me so far around 50 MPG perhaps that should read 50 MPE !
if i charge during the day, its 27.76p a KW x 18.3 KW is £5.08
So in theory, say ive done 300 miles, all charged at the cheap rate of 09.83p thats £10.80 against something in the range of £70 or more in petrol
Would i have gone hybid a year or more ago, and it will be a big NONO, but having done my research, had a couple of test drives, in the J7, i did not like the J5, and the J8 was way to big for our needs, a normal P/ev hybrid was not even on the agenda, and i presume more for the people who do not have the ability to charge at home
Another reason for a J7 was the 7 year warranty, and i like the looks of the car, so far, ive not encountered a problem that i dislike, its incredibly easy to drive, and i found navigating round the 42 " tv, (haha) very very easy, and i am a 66yr old very non techy person
Hope this helps,
